Season 6 of FBI has been confirmed not only that a character will die but that it will be an important character in the series, so there are limited options for who will be leaving the show. Considering the high-stakes and dangerous profession that the characters in FBI are in, it's surprising that more characters haven't been caught in the crossfire. However, after getting to know the characters and watching them grow, saying goodbye to any will be challenging.
FBI is part of the Dick Wolf universe and has frequent crossovers with the spin-offs FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. According to an interview with stars Missy Peregrym, Alana De La Garza, and Zeeko Zaki, none of their characters will die, even though FBI season 6 will "lose a family member". This means that certain members of the core group are safe but leave things up in the air for the remaining agents, analysts, and other members of their team.
5Special Agent Nina Chase
Played by Shantel VanSanten
Agent Nina Chase joined FBI: Most Wanted season 5, leaving FBI, but her ties to the series and the fact that there are so many crossovers between them doesn't mean she's safe for sure. However, it's highly unlikely that Nina will be the causality that comes in season 6 of FBI. She and Scola are still in a relationship, and she recently gave birth to their son, so her death would be especially brutal. It would also be an ineffectual story choice to place her in a more prominent role on a new show only to kill her off.
4Special Agent Stuart Scola
Played by John Boyd
John Boyd's Agent Scola is a major character in the series, but considering his relationship with Nina and their newborn son, he isn't as likely a candidate. He brings an interesting perspective to the team, as someone involved in finance before joining the FBI. He’s extremely dedicated to his new life in the FBI and cares about his partners more than anything. Often the comic relief, he breaks the tension when it's needed. However, since Nina has moved on to FBI: Most Wanted, the show could kill him off to lead so a new couple can take center stage.
3FBI Technical Analyst Ian Lim
Played by James Chen
Ian Lim does not have the largest role on the show, but he's still part of the team and would be a smart candidate for a significant loss that wouldn't shake up the team dynamic. In crime procedurals, analysts are thrust into danger without being ready, and that can come at the cost of their lives. Lim's work might not be as flashy as the fast-paced fieldwork the agents are up to, but many cases couldn’t be solved without him. Though the teasers for season 6 make it seem a larger character will be lost, it could still be anyone.
2Special Agent Tiffany Wallace
Played by Katherine Renee Kane
Tiffany Wallace's death would be a hard loss for the FBI team and would create a hole in the way the team handles investigations. As Scola's partner and a former NYPD officer, she brings vital insight to the team. She often uses her past in the White Collar division to provide expertise for certain cases. Wallace was introduced in season 3, so she hasn't been on the show as long as the others. Conversely, that means her character hasn't grown stale or repetitive and has room for growth.
However, if she left the series, it would follow the last-in-first-out logic that sometimes applies to television. Since she doesn't have quite as many personal or romantic ties to other agents, her loss would be one that the team could handle, but it would be an upsetting turn of events. The series has already lost several promising young women on the team, and continuing with this trend could prove to be a misstep. Regardless, if Wallace stays on the show, her story arc should be further developed.
1Assistant Special Agent In Charge Jubal Valentine
Played by Jeremy Sisto
Jeremy Sisto, the actor who plays Jubal Valentine, has had a hand in several major television series and movies, but after his character's complex development in FBI, his time on the show might be coming to a close. Valentine has been known to make reckless decisions while on a case, and since Nina's (Kathleen Munroe) death in season 4, he hasn't been the same. Of all the characters in FBI, Valentine is the most likely to be killed off in season 6.
He has served as a father figure for many of the younger agents on the team and is an easy man to get along with. Unfortunately, this makes him a prime candidate for a death that would spur the evolution of others. In terms of story structure and what actor is most ready to move on, Sisto's Valentine makes the most sense. If he is killed, it will be a prime opportunity for one of the other characters to step up as a leader and for the team to discover how they operate without him.
