‘I’m not heartbroken’ : Jennifer Aniston speaks her truth in new interview

Jennifer Aniston is doin’ just fine.

The 49-year-old actress graced the September cover of InStyle, and sat down for an exclusive interview with friend and comedy writer, Molly McNearny.

McNearny, the wife of late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, recalls meeting the star through Justin Theroux — Aniston’s soon-to-be ex-husband. While Aniston and McNearny don’t address the split head-on, the former “Friends” star got candid about the false narratives of her personal life that have plagued her throughout her career.

“It’s pretty crazy,” Aniston said. “The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions.”

Motherhood is a particularly hot topic of conversation surrounding the star, with tabloids speculating nearly every week for the past 20 years whether or not Aniston is sporting a baby bump.

“No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally,” she told the magazine. “There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they’re deemed damage goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate. Maybe I have other things I’m supposed to do?”

Aniston and McNearny lament about the pitfalls of social media, but become hopeful when they discuss her new role as a former beauty pageant queen in her new film, “Dumplin’.”

“It’s about redefining beauty and how we as a society interpret what beauty is. I love that the Miss America pageant is going to get rid of the swimsuit competition altogether,” she said. “A swimsuit body is a body in a swimsuit, no matter what that body is. It’s time to just stop thinking beauty is in the shape of a size 4 and the right butt size and the right waist size and the right measurements. It’s just old. We’ve done it. We’ve been there. Let’s move on.”
