Jennifer Aniston Overcome with Emotion Talking About Matthew Perry in ‘Friends’ Discussion

Jennifer Aniston had to take a moment to compose herself after breaking down in tears over her time on “Friends.”

The actress, 55, was overcome with emotion after she was asked about her late co-star Matthew Perry on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series. For her conversation, Aniston was paired up with “Abbott Elementary” star Quinta Brunson.

“I’m sorry, I just started thinking about –,” Aniston responded, seemingly referencing Perry. In a clip shared online, the actress — who played Rachel Green in the hit NBC sitcom from 1994 to 2004 — reflected on her time on the show, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Aniston starred alongside Perry, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox. She then tilted her head back to void messing up her makeup. A producer rushed over to hand her a tissue.

“No, I’m OK. It’s happy tears,” the “Break-Up” actress said, after a brief pause. Perry was pronounced dead on Oct. 28, 2023, at age 54 after being found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

In December, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the actor died of “acute effects of ketamine.” The manner of death was accidental. The autopsy also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and the opioid buprenorphine as contributors to his death.

Once she was ready, Brunson told Aniston that the hit sitcom was turning 30 this year, adding that she considers it to be “one of the best shows on television.” “It’s so strange to even think that it’s 30 years old,” Aniston shared. “The fact that it’s had this long and wonderful life and it still means a lot to people is one of the greatest gifts I think all six of us could ever imagine.”

“He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us,” she wrote. “This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard…”

“Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain. I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying ‘could you BE any crazier?’” she went on. “Rest little brother. You always made my day.”
