Lisette Olivera is heading back to the small screen. The National Treasure: Edge of History actor has joined the cast of FBI for its upcoming seventh season.
According to Variety, Olivera has been cast in Season 7 of FBI as “a behavioral analysis unit agent named Syd.” No other character details have been revealed at this time. She joins a cast that currently includes Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell, Zeeko Zaki as Omar Adom “OA” Zidan, Alana de la Garza as Isobel Castille, Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine, John Boyd as Stuart Scola, and Katherine Renee Kane as Tiffany Wallace, the latter of which is set to depart during the seventh season.
Olivera is best known for starring in National Treasure: Edge of History, a spinoff of the National Treasure film series that ran on Disney+ for one season from 2022 to 2023. The actor headlined the shortlived series as Jess Valenzuela, a Mexican-American and a Dreamer who is “grieving the death of her mother. She doesn’t know her father, who died when she was young, but had always been told by her single parent that he was a reckless, good-for-nothing thief. That is, until she’s set on a course to find a lost treasure with ties to her own family history.”
Is National Treasure 3 Happening at Disney?
Disney’s National Treasure franchise began in 2004 with the release of the eponymous action-adventure film, which starred Nic Cage as historian Ben Gates. The film was a major box office success and was followed by a 2007 sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets. A third National Treasure film has been stuck in development hell since 2008. However, Disney reportedly remains committed to National Treasure 3, with franchise director Jon Turteltaub sharing in May 2024 that the threequel’s script is currently being written.
“[T]here’s a very, very good writer writing it right now who tends to write really good movies. If the script comes out close to good and you can see the finish line from where you are, we’re making the movie,” he revealed. Turteltaub’s comments line up with what National Treasure producer Jerry Bruckheimer said earlier this year while promoting The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. However, while Bruckheimer suggested that franchise star Nicolas Cage wasn’t a lock yet for the threequel, Turteltaub is confident that the actor will be back to play historian Ben Gates.
FBI Was Created by Law & Order’s Dick Wolf
Created by Dick Wolf, FBI premiered on CBS in September 2018, following the investigations of a team of special agents based out of the New York City field office criminal division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The drama series has been a major success for CBS, leading to the addition of two spinoffs — FBI: Most Wanted in 2020 and FBI: International in 2021. In April, CBS renewed FBI for three more seasons, which will take it through its ninth season during the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
FBI Season 7 premieres on CBS on Oct. 15.
