SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 4 Ending Explained

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from SEAL Team season 7, episode 4, "Heroes and Criminals."

Jason Hayes and his team remain in Asia during SEAL Team season 7, episode 4, and while not much happens during the hour, David Boreanaz's character continues to spiral, and the rest of Bravo starts to take notice. The Paramount+ military drama TV series, created by Benjamin Cavell, is almost halfway through its final season, and the Bravo Team is still on shaky ground. Nearly every member is going through personal issues, some of which are more blatant than others. But as SEAL Team season 7 goes on, decisions about the future will begin to become clearer.

As some may recall, Command sent Bravo overseas in SEAL Team season 7, episode 3, to help the DEA on a joint task force targeting the Sai Lou, a Chinese criminal syndicate that deals in drug trafficking. Although they were almost compromised during their last mission in gathering intel about the Sai Lou, Bravo made it out alive (in large part thanks to Drew Franklin). Despite the close call with the op in episode 3, Jason's team receives an even more dangerous and high-risk mission in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4, "Heroes and Criminals."

The DEA gives the Bravo Team another mission targeting the Sai Lou in Paramount+'s SEAL Team season 7, episode 4. Jason, Sonny Quinn, Omar Hamza, Brock Reynolds, Drew Franklin, and Trent Sawyer are tasked with gathering intel from a Sai Lou fentanyl precursor factory in Myanmar (to connect Beijing to Sai Lou). Then, they have to blow it up to impede the syndicate's operations. However, Bravo wants to guarantee that they minimize the number of causalities by ensuring the factory workers aren't in the building.

Although the team thinks they have come up with a decent plan to protect most citizens while also hurting Sai Lou, Jason tells them it's no good (since there would still be casualties) and that they must approach the op from a different angle. So, the SEAL Team characters target the vehicle delivering the factory workers' paychecks. The thought is that if the workers don't get paid, they won't show up for their shift at the factory and won't get blown up during Bravo's mission. Unfortunately, Sai Lou forces the workers at gunpoint to come to work, interrupting the op.

However, Bravo, always thinking on their toes, delays the workers from entering the factory by making money rain down on top of them. While distracted, the rest of the team set up the explosives. Afterward, the SEALs get away and blow up the factory, protecting innocent citizens and accomplishing their mission in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4.

Why Jason Made Some Questionable Decisions During The Myanmar Mission

Jason Turns Down The Team's First Plan

Jason in SEAL Team season 7 episode 4 (1)

Following the traumatic terrorist attack in Sweden in SEAL Team season 7, episode 2, Jason continues on a downward spiral in episode 4. His traumatic brain injury (TBI) is acting up, and he's obviously not okay (and might not be fit to lead Bravo). Unfortunately, Jason isn't opening up to anyone about his struggles, which is hurting not only himself but also his team, as seen in episode 4.

Bravo is surprised when Jason shuts down their first plan for their op in Myanmar in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4. They comment that it's unlike him, and Drew even claims Jason is scared. The team comes up with a million reasons as to why Jason is acting the way he is (like he's being overprotective of them). However, the simple answer came from Drew — Jason is scared of himself and what might happen when he's under high-pressure situations.

Why Ray Is Suspicious Of Jason's Intentions With Bravo

Ray Accuses Jason Of Protecting Himself

Ray and Jason in SEAL Team season 7 episode 4

Ray knows Jason more than anyone else, which is why he is the one to confront David Boreanaz's character in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4. Bravo's mission in Myanmar is ultimately successful, but that doesn't stop Ray from going to Jason with his concerns at the end of the hour in the dive bar. Jason makes some questionable and out-of-character decisions during the op, and Ray wants to know why.

Jason's excuse is that he is just protecting his men. Ray, on the other hand, believes that Jason is protecting himself (and he's not wrong). Only time will tell if this conversation results in Jason finally opening up to Ray in future SEAL Team season 7 episodes.

Does Sonny Or Omar Make Progress In Trying To Get Drew To Open Up?

Drew Remains A Closed Book

Drew and Sonny in SEAL Team season 7 episode 4

One of SEAL Team season 7's biggest questions relates to Drew and his mysterious past, but episode 4 sadly doesn't give viewers much more information about the new character. Sonny and Omar continue pressing Drew to open up, and he continues to refuse. They even try to force him to undergo Bravo's initiation for new members, but Jason quickly shuts that down. As some may remember, Jason is fully aware of what happened to Drew. So, it seems like Bravo-1 is protecting his new team member, which results in Sonny and Omar's failure to get close to Drew.

Ray's Hesitation About Retirement Explained

Ray Opens Up To Drew At The End Of SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 4

Sonny and Omar are not the only ones attempting to break through Drew's walls in the story of SEAL Team season 7, episode 4 — Ray also tries talking with the new guy at the end of the hour. In trying to get him to open up (a plan that ultimately fails), Ray gets vulnerable with Drew. He explains that the closer he gets to retirement, the harder it is to walk away from the SEALs because of the family he has formed.

Ray's teammates are his brothers. Consequently, his bond with them is making him hesitate in his retirement plans. Nevertheless, Ray will undoubtedly still follow through in retiring in SEAL Team season 7, but it's seemingly more difficult than he previously thought.
