Bravo goes head-to-head (against each other) in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, "A Perfect Storm," but by the end of the hour, the fight is for the better, as truths are revealed, bonds strengthen, and Jason finally puts himself first. The seventh season of the Paramount+ military drama TV series follows David Boreanaz's Jason Hayes and his Bravo Team in the aftermath of the events of the season 6 finale. Despite being designated to shore duty, the SEALs finally received an assignment and were deployed to Thailand in SEAL Team season 7, episode 3, where they have been ever since.
After their mission gathering intel on Sai Lou (a Chinese criminal syndicate) in SEAL Team season 7, episode 4, Bravo is appointed another op in episode 5, that gets them closer to exposing the group and all those tied to it. However, tensions rise during the mission, as does the heat, since the air conditioner in the surveillance post is broken. Consequently, fights break out, resulting in the most drama-filled episode of the season.

The Men Are Tasked With Surveilling A Person Of Interest
At the start of the hour, Lieutenant Lisa Davis gets intel that an important Chinese citizen (Jun Li Lin) who could link Beijing and fentanyl is vacationing at his home in George Town, Penang Island, Malaysia. While the SEALs don't have the green light to capture Jun, Bravo can surveil his house to gather intel and study his security. So, when the capture is approved, they will be prepared. Jason and his team head to Penang Island in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, where their mission doesn't exactly go to plan.
Bravo posts up 500 yards from Jun's house at an old abandoned restaurant in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5. Unfortunately, the air conditioning isn't working, meaning the men are hot, sweaty, and irritated throughout the hour. While staking out the home, one of Jun's coworkers, Han, and her family (including her husband and son) show up to stay there for a vacation. Things take a turn for the worse when members of a Mexican cartel show up, expecting to find Jun.
The cartel members start interrogating and torturing Han and her husband for information on Jun. Bravo wants to intervene, but Davis informs them to stand down, which doesn't go over well with most of the men. However, when Han's son wakes up, informing the cartel of his presence, and the power goes out due to a storm, the Bravo Team takes action to save the family. Of course, their mission is successful in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5. Due to their heroics, Han is willing to cooperate with the military and DEA in their case against Jun.

Tensions Rise Between The Teammates
The Bravo Team has undergone several massive changes in SEAL Team season 7, and they all catch up to them in episode 5. The tension between Jason, Ray, Sonny, and Omar that has been building erupts when Davis doesn't give Bravo the green light to intervene with Han and the cartel. Omar is upset because he feels like his voice isn't being heard. Sonny believes Jason is going soft as he has been noticing his behavior and methods change, and he accuses Ray of having one foot out the door. Meanwhile, Jason and Ray are just trying to defend themselves and each other.
Additionally, Ray spills the beans that Jason wanted to offer up his trident after the events of the season 6 finale, and Omar informs Ray that Quinn spoke up at Ben's sentencing hearing. All this new information mixed with the intense heat and heightened emotions is a recipe for disaster. But what it all boils down to is that each character has a different definition of what being loyal to Bravo really means, and some have unrealistic expectations of Jason. So, when put in a pressure cooker in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, Jason, Ray, Omar, and Sonny explode.
Ray & Omar's Fight Explained
Omar Isn't Feeling Appreciated

Omar and Ray's fight in particular was quite interesting in episode 5, especially after their scenes together in SEAL Team season 7, episode 2. As many know, Ray is weeks away from his retirement. So, he has been coaching and preparing Omar for when he is gone. However, Omar is evidently annoyed with Ray's methods, and he finally lets him know during the big blowup in "A Perfect Storm."
Omar informs Ray that he has been acting like a helicopter mom in the SEAL Team season 7 episodes. He feels as though Ray has been second-guessing Bravo-2, undermining his judgment and ability in the team. Of course, the two men make up by the end of the hour. However, Omar and Ray's dynamic will be one to watch as the final season of the Paramount+ military drama continues.
Does Drew Finally Open Up About His Past In SEAL Team Season 7?
Drew Was On Echo
Since the SEAL Team season 7 premiere, Drew has been a mystery. He seemingly comes from an affluent family that he wants nothing to do with, and there have been moments here and there teasing something tragic that happened in Drew's past. Well, when Jason, Ray, Sonny, and Omar are in the middle of their big fight in episode 5, Drew finally opens up about his past (to get all of them to shut up). Drew has been reluctant to be a part of a team or bond with his fellow SEALs because he previously lost his entire original team — Echo.
For those who don't remember, the Echo Team was on an operation in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. The SEALs entered a private residence, and seconds later, it blew up. Sadly, the entire team died, and as it turns out, Drew was also a part of Echo but wasn't there that night. As Drew explains to Bravo in SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, he thought he had found his family after growing up with a terrible one. Then, they were ripped from his fingers, and that is why Drew avoided being a part of a new team as long as possible.

Jason's Son Needs Surgery

The biggest shocker of the hour comes when Jason announces to Bravo that he is going back home to support his son, who needs reconstructive surgery because he tore his ACL. However, as Sonny points out, Jason has never left in the middle of a deployment before. There is something else going on with David Boreanaz's SEAL Team character, and it all links back to his traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Jason has been struggling ever since he killed the terrorist in Sweden during SEAL Team season 7, episode 2. He has been having night terrors and bloody visions that haunt him. When he kills someone else during the mission in episode 5, his TBI only gets worse. So, it seems as though Jason's son's surgery is just an excuse for Jason to pull himself out of the field. Hopefully, once he's back in the United States, Jason will start prioritizing himself and his mental health, but his next steps remain unknown until the next episode of SEAL Team season 7.
